Housing First Project Worker (South East Region) – Permanent Contract

Purpose of this post: South East Simon is currently seeking a Housing First Project Worker to join our dedicated team. You will play a key role in assisting individuals in moving from homelessness into secure housing and ensuring they have the support needed to maintain their tenancies.

Some of the key duties of the role include:

  • Engagement & Outreach: Establish and maintain contact with people experiencing homelessness in Waterford, collaborating with outreach teams and emergency accommodation services.
  • Assessment & Housing Support: Evaluate housing needs and facilitate access to local authority housing supports, including HAP/RAS and social welfare payments.
  • Case Management & Support Planning: Develop and review individual support plans tailored to each tenant’s needs and goals.
  • Tenancy Management: Liaise with landlords, explain lease agreements, rights and responsibilities, and assist in crisis management.
  • Life Skills & Recovery Support: Help individuals build skills for independent living, including budgeting, healthy living, and personal care.

The ideal candidate for this post will have:

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience working in a similar role, particularly with individuals experiencing homelessness or addiction.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in case management and key working, with a focus on harm reduction and recovery-oriented support.
  • Knowledge of addiction, mental health, and housing support systems.
  • A relevant third-level qualification in social care, addiction studies, or a related field.
  • A non-judgmental, compassionate approach and belief in the potential for recovery.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.

Day Team Leader - Anderson's Quay Services

Purpose of this post: Cork Simon is currently seeking a Day Team Leader for Anderson’s Quay who will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating daytime operations at our emergency accommodation service. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a dedicated team in delivering person-centred support to those affected by homelessness.

Some of the key duties of the role include:

  • Team Leadership: Provide supervision and support to a team of staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Resident Support: Foster a welcoming and safe environment for residents, ensuring their needs are met in a person-centred manner.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of Andersons Quay Services, including shift coordination and service delivery.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and safeguarding protocols are adhered to within the service.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Service Manager, external agencies, and internal teams to provide the best possible outcomes for residents.
  • Reporting & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records, reports, and data to support decision-making and service improvements.

The ideal candidate for this post will have:

Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a homeless or social care environment and minimum of 12 months supervisory experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Working with individuals facing drug, alcohol, mental health issues, complex physical, psychological, and emotional needs, challenging behaviours, and homelessness in a supportive and appropriate manner.
  • Qualifications: Relevant third-level degree. Social work / Social Care or equivalent.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with staff, residents, and external stakeholders.
  • Empowerment & Motivation: Passion for supporting and empowering vulnerable individuals.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, and relevant support approaches (e.g., Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Housing First).
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong administrative, numerical, and written skills
