Health & Safety & Compliance Officer - Permanent Contract
Purpose of this post: Cork Simon is currently seeking a Health & Safety & Compliance Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Head of HR, Governance and Compliance, you will be the go-to expert for health and safety matters across Cork Simon and South East Simon. This is a strategic and operational role with real impact—leading initiatives to promote a strong safety culture, supporting teams in meeting compliance obligations, and contributing to continuous quality improvement
Some of the key duties of the role include:
- Health & Safety Leadership: Promote safe working practices, conduct audits, ensure up-to-date safety statements, risk assessments, and fire safety measures.
- Training & Oversight: Organize health and safety training, lead quarterly H&S meetings, and support accident reporting and follow-up.
- Compliance Support: Assist with GDPR and NQSF compliance, maintain risk registers, and handle subject access requests (DSARs).
- Quality Assurance: Support implementation and monitoring of quality standards (e.g., NQSF, HACCP), assist with audits and policy development.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with management, HR, property, and finance teams to ensure organisation-wide compliance.
- Governance: Contribute to reviewing policies, risk registers, and compliance metrics.
The ideal candidate for this post will have:
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health and safety or compliance role, ideally in social care, health, or service delivery environments.
- Experience supporting quality frameworks and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Third-level qualification in Health & Safety Management (Level 8 preferred).
- Full clean driver’s license and access to own transport.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong IT and organisational skills.
- Committed, flexible, and motivated by social justice and safety excellence.

Project Worker - Cork County Housing First Service - Fixed Term Contract
Purpose of this post: Cork Simon is currently seeking a motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Project Worker in the Cork County Housing First Service. In this vital role you will support people who are sleeping rough and/or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness to move into secure, permanent housing at the earliest opportunity, without preconditions for sobriety or treatment compliance
Some of the key duties of the role include:
- Making contact: Work collectively with colleagues in homeless services, the Local Authority, HSE and other agencies to identify, prioritise, establish and maintain contact with people in Cork who are sleeping rough and/or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness.
- Housing Assessment, Access & Allocation: Assess the urgency of the person’s housing need by use of agreed tools for prioritisation consisting of the Cork Kerry Key work, care planning and case management protocols.
- Key Working, Support Plans and Intensive Case Management: Work with each service user / tenant and with colleagues within the Cork County Housing First Team to identify areas for support.
- Addressing problems and tenancy breakdown: Ensure tenants know their rights and responsibilities, work closely with all stakeholders to address any issues.
- Induction to Accommodation: Ensure tenant is introduced features/systems of the property, assist with gaining familiarity of the local area.
- Accommodation: Support tenants in maintaining positive relationships with landlords and neighbours.
- Team Work: Work as part of a team to reach the overall objectives of the Cork County Housing First service, while managing own caseload.
- Professional Development and Performance Monitoring: Engage in supervision, professional development, and performance monitoring through key indicators such as effective communication, teamwork, and positive client outcomes.
The ideal candidate for this post will have:
Experience:
- Relevant experience working with marginalized groups, especially people experiencing homelessness or addiction, and case management experience.
Qualifications:
- Relevant third-level qualification in a relevant field.
- Full clean driving license, and access to a car.
Skills and Attributes:
- Understanding of Housing Assistance Structures and Housing First ethos.
- Strong case management, listening, advocacy, record-keeping, organisational and report-writing skills.
